Attorney Affordability
Here at the Law Offices of Craig J. Brown, we represent our personal injury clients on a contingency basis. This means there are no upfront costs for hiring our firm, or, while we represent you throughout the legal process. We provide free case consultations to help us determine whether or not you have a case.
We assume any and all legal costs for your case up front (you pay nothing). In the event we are able to recover compensation through a settlement or a court case, we charge a percentage to cover our costs. This amount is explained in your free consultation, and varies depending on the type of case. We do not get paid for our services, unless you receive compensation.
WHY NO UPFRONT FEES?
Not charging upfront is done for a few different reasons. It gives victims the opportunity to obtain legal representation regardless of their financial situation. With the average cost of an attorney in the U.S. being over $200 per hour, many people simply don’t have the money they would need to hire an attorney up front. This removes that barrier.
Not charging upfront costs also helps level the playing field. These types of cases are usually against insurance companies who have a lot of resources. By having us cover the upfront costs, the victim is freed of the potential for their case to become financially draining to them.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE CONSULTATION?
During the free consultation, we discuss aspects of your case. During the consultation, there is no obligation to hire our firm. Because of this, there is no risk in you meeting with us to discuss your case.
You’re also given the opportunity to ask us questions. This can be questions about the case, questions about the legal process, or questions about our fees (which we will also go over with you).
HOW DO THE ATTORNEYS GET PAID?
If we obtain compensation for your damages, the total amount recovered will be detailed in a closing statement. The statement will also detail our costs for representing you and any medical debts related to your injuries.
Once you have read through and signed the closing statement, compensation will be paid out.
